An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Registered Nurse to join the MND Specialist team within the Directorate of Neurosciences at the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
The MND team provides specialist care to people with Motor Neurone Disease through all stages of the condition within an in-patient and outpatient setting. We provide a range of specialist care from 1st diagnose to assessment, follow up, care planning and home support. We also provide many research opportunities for patients working closely with Newcastle University. This is an extremely challenging yet rewarding role and we welcome driven, motivated and compassionate experienced nurses to apply.
The Directorate offers a comprehensive range of Neurosciences care and offers immense learning opportunities within this clinical speciality. Our team consists of Consultant Neurologists, Nurses, OT and Physio support.

Main duties of the job
You will be required to be able to work independently and also part of the diverse multi-disciplinary team. It is expected that the candidate will also take an active part in audit and research. You should be a Registered Nurse with experience in a senior nursing role, educated to/working towards degree level and have a sound knowledge of Neurology. This post would suit candidates with previous Neurosciences experience. Clinical skills/patient assessment and non-medical prescribing would be advantageous but not essential as training will be supported. It is expected that the candidate will complete is this within an agreed timeframe of starting the role.
You will need to be creative, highly motivated and willing to develop services. You should also possess excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate their alignment to the Trust Values and Professional Leadership Behaviours and an ongoing commitment to continuously improving the quality of the service that is delivered in addition to monitoring and maintaining standards of care.
