Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Nurse to join our Digital Health team on a full time secondment. We are looking for an enthusiastic, innovative and highly motivated individual to join as a Digital Health Specialist Nurse.

We are at an exciting time at Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as we continue to improve and optimise our new digital EPR system as well as implementing other new digital solutions . This marks a significant investment by the trust, an investment which will support us as we continue to work to deliver high quality patient care within our outstanding services and reflects our commitment to continuous improvement and to patient safety.

The successful candidate will be the subject matter expert, assisting the project team in the optimisation of the EPR system and work with the directorates in implementing changes and the streamlining the system.

In the longer term they will provide ongoing support of the system, be a digital leader providing effective professional support to all colleagues as well as delivering education and training to other staff and students, including medical staff. It is an expectation that the successful candidate will be an as an ambassador of the Nursing profession and ensure clinical practice, supported by digital technology meets professional standards.

Main duties of the job

As a Band 7 Digital Health Specialist Nurse you will be working with wards and departments supporting the delivery of the Trusts Digital Strategy. This will include working with on the optimisation of the current Electronic Patient Record as well as new and innovative ways of incorporating digital technology to deliver safe and efficient patient care.

You will be aligned as a key contact for at least one Clinical Board and will be expected to meet with them regularly to support them in the prioritisation of their Digital Requests.

As one of the Digital Health clinical experts you and your colleagues will support our IT colleagues in scoping the development requirements as well as supporting the implementation of Digital Solutions by engaging with the services.

There will be an element of supervision of junior colleagues, mentoring students on placement within the service and working with outside agencies.

The team contribute to the training and education by supporting the wards and departments during 'go lives' of digital patient safety initiatives and by delivering individual training if required.
