Job summary
This is a senior post within the Business Development & Enterprise Directorate with the responsibility for the management of the Performance Team . You will be responsible for taking a lead on strategic performance monitoring, review and taking corrective action as necessary in order to ensure targets and key performance indicators are met. You will work at a Senior level within the organisation working with both Clinical and non Clinical staff ensuring their awareness, understanding and compliance with these indicators.

Main duties of the job
The main duties of the role consist of leading on, and developing, the performance function across the Trust with a key focus on
- Strategic performance monitoring
- Advising the Trust Board on overall business and clinical performance
- Leading on the external reporting of contracting and performance data
- Developing the Demand and Capacity modelling to improve future planning
- Management and development of the performance team
- Looking to continual improve the performance function and the services provided to the Trust
Other areas may also be identified depending on the wider work being undertaken by the Directorate.

- To support the Trust lead in strategic performance monitoring, review and taking corrective action as necessary in order to ensure targets and key performance indicators are met.
- To be the Trust performance specialist (including business and clinical performance). This is a strategic role, providing the Trust focus for performance development.
- To advise the Trust Board on overall business and clinical performance. To advise on the need for corrective action and formulate plans with other senior officers and Clinical Directorates as required.
- To lead on the external reporting of contracting and performance data to NHS Improvement, NHS England, ICBs; critical to this is ensuring a consistent and coherent picture, including service quality and patient safety reporting.
- To oversee the delivery of activity and income plans across the organisation, highlighting key risks to Trust Board and agreeing recovery plans, in conjunction with the Chief Operating Officer and Director of Finance
- To co-ordinate the performance review cycle for the Trust, including for clinical Boards and corporate performance to ensure Board is made aware of key future risks and actions.
- To play a key role in the Trusts contracts in excess of £800
- To support clinical Boards
- In the preparation and negotiation of Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- In matters relating to the commissioned contracts and Trust income
- In monitoring and delivery of performance measures, reporting outcomes to Executive Directors
- In preparation of business plans and bids to deliver new services
- In internal and external service reviews
- To ensure that the Trust maximises opportunities for income growth and is paid for the services it provides.
- To Develop The Trusts use of Business Intelligence tools, benchmarking and marketing analysis
- To develop the use of demand and capacity modelling tools to improve future planning
- To support the Assistant Directors with external facing activities including working with ICBs, NHS England, local authorities and other providers of clinical services. To contribute to the development and implementation of corporate strategies and decisions within the Trust.
- Responsible for the line management of staff within the specific area of responsibility.
- Deputise where appropriate for Directorate Assistant Directors, in particular the Assistant Director of Contracting & Performance, and the Assistant Director of Planning and Strategy
Key Accountabilities

- To report current performance to Board, to be involved in the design of reporting mechanisms.
- Use market analysis tools and techniques to support proposed changes in patient flows across the region and identify opportunities for new business developments which deliver the strategic aims and financial returns required by the Trust.
- To regularly undertake service-wide projects
