Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join a small professional team, based in the Northern Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering department at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle upon Tyne. The team provides a highly regarded quality assurance programme for ultrasound equipment in over 50 hospitals and health centres across the North East and North Cumbria.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated healthcare science assistant practitioner to play a major role in the delivery of our quality assurance programme for ultrasound equipment used in radiology departments, antenatal clinics, echocardiography units and other clinical departments across the region.

Main duties of the job

If you're successful in your application, you'll perform quality assurance measurements on ultrasound equipment in hospitals and health centres throughout the region, liaise with sonographers and other clinical employees in those hospitals and health centres and, together with more senior colleagues, prepare draft reports for the users of the equipment.

For appointment at Band 4, you'll need a minimum of an NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent in a science, engineering or radiography-related subject, together with additional training to diploma level or equivalent.

In addition, the job involves frequent travel to other hospital sites, so you'll need a current full UK driving licence and a willingness to drive.
