Applications are invited for a full timeBand 3 Genetics Data Coordinator in the Newcastle Genetics Laboratories.

The Newcastle Genetics Laboratories form part of the Yorkshire and North East Genomic Laboratory Hub. In response to NHS England's recent Strategy and Service Specification for the future of Genomics services in England, Newcastle Hospitals, Leeds Teaching Hospitals, Sheffield Children's Trust and Sheffield Teaching Hospitals have formed the Yorkshire and North East Genomics Laboratory Hub; an exciting collaboration to provide services for Genomics across Yorkshire and Humber and the North. The combined size of our geography makes this the largest collaboration in the country with the Trusts offering a range of both general and specialist hospital services with excellent clinical outcomes for patients. We have an international reputation for excellence in specialist care, research and academic training.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be a motivated and reliable individual, with previous administrative experience will join a diverse team of clinical, scientific, admin and informatics staff in the Newcastle Genetics Laboratory based at the Centre for Life.

Excellent communication, a high degree of computer literacy, precise and accurate data entry, team working and organisational skills are essential.

Key roles will involve,

  • Supporting the laboratory team in all aspects of administration associated with patient referrals.
  • Liaising with other referral laboratories/clinicians as required.
  • Generate regular reports from various databases.
  • Supporting the laboratory management team as required.
  • Data entry of patient referrals onto various databases, requiring a high degree of accuracy.
  • Organisation of patient and family referrals.
  • Provide cover to the existing laboratory administrative and data co-ordinator team as required.
