Job summary
We are seeking enthusiastic, suitably qualified, experienced MRI Radiographer to take on the role and responsibility of MRI team lead within the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Radiology Department in the Freeman MRI unit. You will be responsible for the day to day running of the unit and support the other team leads. You will have excellent leadership skills, good communication skills and be self-motivated. You will be a role model to the MRI staff, MRI trainees, students, and other staff visiting the MRI unit. You will deputise for the MRI superintendent radiographer in their absence. You will be responsible for training new staff and students. MRI safety is key to this role.

Main duties of the job
The MRI unit is a busy department and perform a wide range of examinations supporting HPB, renal, MSK, ENT, oncology, cardiac, and vascular directorates using state of the art MRI equipment. The MRI unit also supports a pacemaker service. The post holders will take responsibility for producing images of a high standard and promote a high standard MRI safety.
The MRI units run an extended day and weekend rota in which you will be expected to participate. This is a full time post but there might be opportunities to job share.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Radiographer with proven MRI experience wishing to extend their skills and expertise whilst working in a team-based environment.
Candidates will be State Registered Radiographers with MRI postgraduate experience who demonstrates a clear program of knowledge development. A post graduate qualification in MRI would be advantageous but not essential. The Radiology Directorate actively encourages opportunities for further training and development.
