We are delighted to be able to offer an exciting new opportunity for the successful candidate to work collaboratively across the Provider Collaborative, Northern Cancer Alliance and The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals Foundation Trust overseeing and co-ordinating the programme of work for specific service redesign. The post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective service supporting managers and staff across the region to deliver the ambitions of the long-term cancer plan.
The post holder will be specifically involved in the implementation of key pathway redesign work for:
- Non-surgical Oncology
- Gynae-oncology
- Breast Services

Main duties of the job
The postholder will support the Provider Collaborative and Northern Cancer Alliance with the following:
- Overseeing and co-ordinating the specific pathway redesign work
- Ensuring a clear programme plan for design, engagement and delivery of the work across the regions Foundation Trusts
- Act at all times to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients
- Ensuring appropriate and effective links are established with key stakeholders
- Identify examples of local and national good practice and develop opportunities to learn from and implement pathway changes

- The Northern Cancer Alliance will deliver the Cancer Strategy for the Northeast and North Cumbria Integrated Care Stream (ICS) through the four Integrated care partnerships (ICP) footprints within its geographical footprint
- In order to deliver its ambitions, The Northern Cancer Alliance team will be distributed across its footprint and encompass a central core Alliance team to drive forward the development of delivery of the Delivery Plan, along with resources within local ICP footprint areas to drive delivery at a local level
- In particular this role will specifically lead the implementation of key pathway redesign work for: Non-surgical oncology/Gynae-oncology/Breast services
- The post holder will be hosted through the Provider Collaborative team, but will be jointly accountable to the Provider Collaborative and Cancer Alliance for delivery of work on cancer pathways across the system
- The role includes but is not limited to supporting the Provider Collaborative and Cancer Alliance with the following:
- Overseeing and co-ordinating the specific pathway redesign work
- Ensuring a clear programme plan for design, engagement and delivery of the work across Foundation Trusts
- Act as an honest broker across the Foundation trust to ensure the best possible outcome for patients
- Ensuring that the appropriate links are being made with key stakeholders
- Identifying examples of local and national good practice and working with key stakeholders develop opportunities to learn from and implement pathway changes
- As Programme Manager, the post holder will work at part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective service supporting managers and staff across the ICS and ICPs and to support the Managing Director of the Provider Collaborative and the Cancer Alliance Programme Director with the oversight and co-ordination of their work
- The post holder is responsible for providing professional expertise to the outcome of the business processes for the Cancer Alliance and Provider Collaborative
- The post holder will define current processes, facilitate discussions and advise colleagues how best practice might be adopted in the definition of future service, document those processes as they are agreed and oversee their delivery
- To support the development, management, monitoring and implementation of the programme such that it meets the needs of the Stakeholders in terms of cost efficiency; realises the intended benefits; and complies with required governance
- By bringing together leaders with a cancer-specific focus and expertise across geographies in terms of patient flows
- To work collaboratively across NHS England and NHS Improvement matrix, including integrating the National Directors portfolio
