Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented and highly motivated senior nurse leader with an interest in transformation and experience in change management to lead the nursing workforce in the Directorate of Outpatients and Health Records, within Board 8, Clinical and Research Services.

The main outpatient facilities are based on the Freeman and Royal Victoria site with satellite clinics at Benfield, Cresta and Cramlington, Manor Walks. The clinics support a wide range of specialities and services to deliver outpatient care to the local and wider population.

The matron portfolio also includes professional support to the radiology sister, medical examiner service manager and the bereavement service.

Main duties of the job

An opportunity has arisen for a talented and highly motivated senior nurse to apply for the position of Matron for Outpatients and Health Records. This is an exciting role in our outstanding organisation, particularly for someone with a passion for transformation and working collaboratively with other departments. You will be committed to leading by example, motivating and empowering your team to ensure consistently high standards of care are delivered within the Outpatient areas. You will monitor and maintain professional nursing standards, to ensure that robust systems of governance are in place to aid delivery of high quality, person centred care for our patients.

Working alongside colleagues and as part of the Trust Transformation Board you will be responsible for shaping the delivery of outpatient services.

As a senior leader you will provide effective, visible, and accessible leadership and management across the departments promoting excellence in patient care and clinical practice. You will manage the senior nursing team and support them to lead and develop their own teams with oversight of resource management, including budget responsibility. As a role model, you will lead by example, motivating, empowering, and inspiring your team to ensure consistently high standards of care are delivered.
