Job summary
We are excited to be recruiting to a full time Band 6 Surgical and Liver Dietitian post at the Freeman Hospital, for an initial 1 year. This post is an ideal opportunity to broaden your skills in the specialist areas of enteral and parenteral feeding within the hepatobiliary and colorectal surgery team. As well as working with the liver transplant and liver medicine team, supporting pre, peri and post op liver transplant patients within the liver inpatient and outpatient service.
The successful applicant will join our friendly and supportive adult department of 45 dietitians providing clinical support to patients and act as a source of expertise to the wider Multidisciplinary team including medical, nursing and allied health professionals across the trust.
The department provides A, B and C placements for dietetic students. The Trust places significant value on its dietetic services in the provision of first-class patient care, and the dietetic service enjoys a high profile with excellent multidisciplinary involvement.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be required to
- Deliver a high-quality dietetic service within the specialist area of hepatobiliary, colorectal surgery and liver medicine
- Work effectively as part of the MDT
- Take part in student training and supervision
- Contribute to research and audit
You should be enthusiastic and self-motivated and will:
- Have post-registration experience in oral nutrition support
- Have post registration experience in Enteral feeding
- Previous PN experience is desirable but not essential
- Specialist training in weight management or lifestyle management for NAFLD is desirable but not essential
- Be able to demonstrate ongoing CPD and have evidence of developing practice
- Be able to support colleagues and take responsibility for the clinical supervision of junior staff and students
- Have excellent communication skills
- Be able to maintain good relationships with colleagues and the wider the MDT
