Job summary
We are seeking to recruit a committed Consultant Perinatal
Psychiatrist to join our specialist secondary mental health team. The post is based at Farm Lodge, The Bradgate
Unit within the Local Mental Health Service. You will work in partnership with
members of multi-disciplinary teams, both operationally and strategically to
drive forward innovation delivering the best care for our patients.
The Education Lead role will provide support to the Director of Medical Education and Associate Medical Director who are responsible for Postgraduate and Undergraduate medical education.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be required to work in partnership at
both strategic and operational levels with relevant and external
stakeholders. The post holder will need
to ensure that people who use services, carers and advocates are treated with
respect and dignity
Provide
clinical leadership to the MDT responsible for the Consultant's agreed area.
The
Consultant has a continuing responsibility for the care of patients and for the
proper functioning of the department. The consultant will liaise with the
General Practitioners, hospital and community specialists and other agencies
wherever relevant.
The
Consultant will also undertake the administrative duties associated with the
care of patients and the running of the clinical department, including the
prioritisation of the case load according to need.
The
appointee will be responsible with the other consultants and other professional
colleagues for the provision of a comprehensive perinatal mental health service
to the district.
The post holder, who needs to be
Section 12 approved under the Mental Health Act, will join the consultant non
resident on-call rota.
You will take a collaborative approach in overseeing the developing Undergraduate education and provide operational support to the Director of Medical Education to ensure the good standards of education are provided to GP and other trainee doctors working in the Trust
