Job summary
The Beacon is LPTs purpose-built CAMHS inpatient unit for young people aged 13-18 who need specialist support during crisis or complex mental health presentations. Located on the Glenfield Hospital site, it provides a safe, calm and therapeutic environment with ensuite bedrooms, sensory rooms, therapy spaces and landscaped outdoor areas. An onsite school, run by the Children's Hospital School, ensures education continues during admission.
As a Band 5 Staff Nurse, you'll join an experienced, compassionate multidisciplinary team supporting young people to stabilise, recover and return safely to their communities. You'll receive regular supervision, supportive management and access to high-quality development opportunities. The Beacon was co-designed with staff and young people, reflecting our commitment to hope, respect and emotional wellbeing.
This role suits both newly qualified and experienced nurses who want to make a real difference to young people and their families. As a 24/7 service, you'll work day and night shifts on a rotational basis, including weekends and bank holidays.

Main duties of the job
As a Band 5 Staff Nurse at The Beacon, you'll provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to young people experiencing acute mental health needs. You will complete assessments, plan and deliver care, evaluate progress and work closely with families and carers. You'll collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, teachers and support staff to ensure holistic, person-centred care.
You'll help maintain a safe and therapeutic environment, support de-escalation, respond to risk and uphold safeguarding standards. You'll contribute to discharge planning and ensure accurate, timely documentation in line with professional and Trust requirements. You will also act as a positive role model, supervising junior staff and students and engaging in regular clinical supervision and reflective practice.
