Job summary

This role leads digital transformation projects across primary care, managing all stages from scoping to implementation and evaluation. It works closely with stakeholders to translate operational needs into clear technical solutions, including clinical templates, dashboards, digital tools and reporting outputs.

The post provides oversight and quality assurance for project work, supervising Project Support Officers and conducting peer reviews to ensure accuracy, compliance and clinical suitability. It supports pilot deployments, gathers feedback and produces documentation required for clinical safety and validation.

As a central point of expertise, the role delivers advanced application and workflow support, resolves complex system issues and collaborates with clinical teams to optimise digital processes and coding quality. It also performs quality checks on Medicines Optimisation reports and other key outputs to ensure reliable data for decision-making.

The role includes day-to-day leadership for Project Support Officers (Bands 4-5), offering direction, coaching and support to maintain consistent standards across documentation, reporting and project delivery.

The successful candidate must have advanced SystmOne skills. A SystmOne test will form part of the interview, so applications should clearly demonstrate how essential criteria are met.

Main duties of the job

  • Engages with requestors to define detailed data, resource, and system requirements, translating operational needs into scoped technical solutions.
  • Designs and develops clinical templates, dashboards, digital tools, and reporting outputs to support data-driven decision making across primary care.
  • Assigns and oversees work delivered by Project Support Officers, ensuring outputs meet required standards and timelines.
  • Provides robust peer review of digital builds, data dashboards, and system outputs, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and suitability for clinical use.
  • Manages pilot implementations, monitoring progress, collecting feedback, and developing CSO documentation required for clinical validation.
  • Acts as project lead for digital transformation initiatives, coordinating cross-disciplinary contributions and ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Provides advanced application support, troubleshooting complex issues related to system configuration, workflow design, and reporting anomalies.
  • Collaborates with primary care teams to optimise clinical system usage, improve coding quality, and streamline digital workflows.
  • Performs quality assurance on Medicines Optimisation reports and other critical outputs, identifying data issues and ensuring accuracy.
