Band 6 Occupational Therapist - Autism speciality

Job summary

We are seeking a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our Specialist Autism Team. We are an ambitious multidisciplinary service supporting Autistic young people aged 14+ and Autistic adults to understand their Autism and access thoughtful, Autism-aware care. We are looking for someone who delivers high-quality, person-centred practice, advocates confidently for service users, and works creatively with colleagues, carers and families. You will play a key role in a developing service focused on innovation, reducing inequality and improving accessibility for Autistic people. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of sensory approaches, activities of daily living and emotional regulation, along with a commitment to improving care and a clear appreciation of the diverse needs of Autistic individuals.

Main duties of the job

To work as a specialist clinician to utilise, develop and enhance Occupational Therapy clinical and professional skills within the Service, in order to deliver high standards of practice.

To apply the Occupational Therapy process within a Multi-Disciplinary format providing specialist assessment and treatment in clinical care pathways.

To contribute to developing the Service. This involves promoting high quality clinical practice and ensuring professional standards are maintained in the workplace.

To deliver a specialist Occupational Therapy Service to patients within a variety of settings, requiring flexibility/adaptability in recognising the complexity of these environments to maximise their abilities and opportunities for occupational wellbeing.

To contribute to duty and triage processes.
