Job summary
Join us in shaping high quality occupational therapy for children and young people. We are seeking an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist with mental health experience who is passionate about supporting the wellbeing of young people. Those you will work with may have neurodiversity, emotional regulation needs, trauma histories or present with high risk behaviours. Our teams provide intensive, psychologically informed care across community and inpatient settings. You will be based at the Beacon Unit, our inpatient CAMHS service in Leicester, which is also developing a new day programme to enhance support for young people on the ward. This role sits within a small, dedicated OT team working closely with colleagues across the acute risk pathway to deliver compassionate, recovery focused mental health care. Your work will include OT consultations, assessments and holding a therapeutic caseload to help young people overcome barriers to meaningful participation in daily life. You will collaborate with doctors, education staff, social workers, SALT, family therapists and psychologists as part of a multidisciplinary team supporting those at risk of hospital admission. Main duties of the job
Provide a range of Occupational Therapy assessments and treatment for young people and their Parent/Carers drawing on relevant OT models/ theory and following the OT process. Undertake routine and profession specific outcomes measures Completion of OT reports, individualised care plans and risk assessments Provide consultation to MDT and external services to support the occupational need/ strengths of young people Work in conjunction with other community and health professionals to deliver joined up care pathway to meet the specific need of the child/ young person and their family. Carry out clinical supervision of OTs within the service as delegated by Lead Occupational Therapist Offer regular placements to Occupational Therapy students, supervising as their practice educator. Contribute to audits and quality improvement activities and actively participate in service development.
