Job summary

Join us in shaping a new CAMHS Day Patient service for children and young people. This provision bridges the gap between inpatient admission and intensive community support, complementing the existing acute risk pathway in Leicestershire.

It will offer intensive, compassionate, recovery focused mental health support for young people and their families.

We are recruiting three Band 6 Registered Mental Health Nurses to join the team at the Beacon Unit in Leicester, where the day programme will run alongside inpatient care. You will work with a full multidisciplinary team including doctors, OTs, education staff, social workers, SALT, family therapists and psychologists to plan care and deliver interventions for young people at risk of hospital admission. You will also hold a small caseload. CAMHS or acute mental health experience is essential.

The Day Patient Provision will provide structured therapeutic programmes, multidisciplinary input and a nurturing environment to help young people stabilise, build resilience and remain connected to home and school. Many will have emotional regulation difficulties, trauma histories, ASD, intellectual disabilities and high risk behaviours. We offer the chance to shape a brand new service,.

We are looking for compassionate, creative, CAMHS experienced clinicians who can collaborate within a dynamic, evolving service and are passionate about improving outcomes for young people.

Main duties of the job

Working within a multidisciplinary team (HCSWs, Social Workers, OTs, Psychotherapists, Psychologists, Peer Support) to assess the needs of CYP.

Responsible for aspects of operational and clinical management in the day to day running of the service:

Hold a small caseload and deliver clinical and therapeutic interventions as part of the MDT timetable.

Work collaboratively with young people and their families/carers to create holistic care plans and treatment interventions.

Deliver full programme Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (training provided).

Collaborate with external agencies to manage risk.

Contribute to a compassionate, adaptable and creative team culture.

Provide clinical interventions such as NG feeding, meal support and supervision.

Carry out line management duties and continually assess and respond to risk.

Role requires 12hour shifts, 3-4 times per week, between 08:0020:00, across a 7day service operating 365 days a year. Flexible working requests considered but not guaranteed. See the Job Description and Person Specification for full details.
