Band 6 Community Paediatric Primary Care Dietitian
The closing date is 22 February 2026
Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen, for an enthusiastic and motivated dietitian, to join the well-established Leicestershire Nutrition and Dietetic Service (LNDS) on a full or part time fixed term contract for 12 months. The post holder will manage a caseload of paediatric patients receiving enteral nutrition in the community, including at home and schools as well as either CAMHS ED or general paediatrics (depending on experience). Although the primary focus is paediatric specialities there are strong links with the adult team. This friendly, forward thinking and supportive team consists of Dietitians, Dietetic Assistant Practitioners, Dietetic Support Workers and administrative staff. The HENS team is involved in pre-discharge training and preparation, post-discharge monitoring, coordination of supplies of feed and equipment, maintenance of enteral feeding tubes, and provision of a trouble-shooting service for families and professionals. We have close working relationships with the wide network of healthcare, social care and education professionals involved with our patients, such as Leicestershires Diana Nurses and acute trust services.
Main duties of the job
Experience in clinical paediatrics, CAMHS ED, or home enteral feeding is preferred, but applicants with a strong interest in paediatric specialities will be supported through training or a development role. Strong communication skills and a proactive, handson approach are essential for working effectively with patients, carers, and professionals. The service offers a paediatric CPD forum and close links with University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust Dietitians, providing broad development opportunities. There is growing involvement in research, audit, and support for student dietitians on A, B, and C placements. Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust Nutrition and Dietetic Service delivers care to adults and children across Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland, covering outpatient clinics, domiciliary visits, inpatients, mental health, learning disabilities, specialist weight management, and work with nurseries and schools. The post is based at the Leicestershire Nutrition and Dietetic Service Headquarters near the M1/M69 junction. A full driving licence and access to a car during working hours are required.
