8a Clinical Psychologist in Paediatric Psychology

Job summary

We are recruiting for a Band 8a Psychologist to join our expanding Paediatric Psychology service, working across Paediatric Cardiology and Paediatric Liaison Teams.

The East Midlands Congenital Heart Network provides psychological assessment and treatment for young people with Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) and their families, alongside consultation, liaison, training, and supervision for medical colleagues. Paediatric Liaison supports children with combined physical and mental health needs, including functional neurological disorders, through a multidisciplinary team approach.

The role involves close collaboration with Leicester Childrens Hospital staff and delivering services at Leicester Royal Infirmary and community venues. Our department values reflective practice, CPD, and offers training opportunities in EMDR, ACT for Physical Health, and Systemic practice. Successful candidates will also provide reflective practice to health professionals.

Main duties of the job

The current vacancy will sit across Paediatric Cardiology and Inpatient Liaison, but will also involve working more directly with some other medical specialties within the Children's Hospital.

The post offers an exciting opportunity to join a well-established team of Psychologists working in conjunction with medical multi-disciplinary teams, providing psychological assessment and interventions to children, young people and families who are living with complex and long-term health needs. The post also involves providing consultation and liaison to staff at the Leicester Royal Infirmary and other Community and Mental Health professionals. Other duties include teaching and training, research and quality improvement activities.
