We have an excellent opportunity for experienced Health Care Assistants to join our team within the Mental Health Service for Older people (MHSOP) on Gwendolen Ward.

The role of the Health Care Assistant will be to work as part of the nursing team and support people through their recovery with both their physical health and their mental health needs.

Based on the Leicester General Hospital site, the Evington Centre has 2 mental health wards: Gwendolen Ward (Male Patients) and Coleman Ward (Female Patients).

Gwendolen Ward is a 19-bedded organic acute ward for males aged 65 and above, also catering to younger patients who may have cognitive impairment. On the ward, we work to support gentleman presenting with complex mental health conditions and physical co-morbidities, offering opportunity for our nurses to provide invaluable care to vulnerable people; in turn offering a sense of real fulfilment.

This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop new skills under a nurturing team where you will be able to make a real difference to people's lives. The ideal candidate will have experience of working within a healthcare setting, excellent communication skills and passionate about providing great care to patients.

Main duties of the job

Please note that the Healthcare Assistants work a rota system of Long Days (12 hr shifts) Day and Night covering a 7-day working week. We can offer Part time and Full time posts, however the minimum you will be required to work is 23 hours per week. These are also permanent roles not bank roles and candidates will require their own right to work in the UK as we are unable to offer sponsorship.
