We are looking for an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist who has experience of working in mental health and is passionate about supporting the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people who are living in care and leaving care.
This post is to support our ongoing project with Leicester City Local Authority and our Staying Close, Staying Connected service. Staying Close, Staying Connected is a service for care leavers in Leicester City aged 16-25, it is a service which provides support for young people who are experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties and who require support and preventative intervention to ensure that they have a robust package of care whilst stepping in to adult life.
As part of this work you will work closely with a dedicated team including a senior mental health practitioner, consultant psychiatrist and assistant psychologist. You will also be based alongside the wider CAMHS Young Peoples Team.
You will carry out occupational therapy consultations, assessments and hold a occupational therapeutic case load to help young people and their families to overcome barriers to successfully engage in occupations they choose, need to want to do in everyday life.

Main duties of the job
- Provide a range of Occupational Therapy assessments and treatment for young people and their Parent/Carers drawing on relevant OT models/ theory and following the OT process.
- Undertake routine and profession specific outcomes measures Completion of OT reports, individualised care plans and risk assessments.
- Provide consultation to MDT and external services to support the occupational need/ strengths of young people.
- Work in conjunction with other community and health professionals to deliver joined up care pathway to meet the specific need of the child/ young person and their family.
- Carry out clinical supervision of OTs within the service as delegated by Lead Occupational Therapist.
- Offer regular placements to Occupational Therapy students, supervising as their practice educator.
- Contribute to audits and quality improvement activities and actively participate in service development.
