This post offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience working within the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Perinatal and Maternal Mental Health services. We have a fantastic opportunity for an Assistant Psychologist to join our compassionate and forward-thinking Team where were committed to supporting women and families through one of lifes most transformative journeys.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Assistant Psychologist to help us deliver psychologically informed care to women experiencing mental health difficulties during pregnancy and the postnatal period. This is a unique opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary team that provides specialist support to mothers, birthing people, and families across different settings. You will contribute under the supervision of qualified Clinical Psychologists and play a key role in promoting emotional wellbeing during the perinatal period.

Main duties of the job

You will also assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics, development of audit and/or research projects, teaching and project work.

The development of Specialist Perinatal services over the last 5 years has been considerable and therefore the opportunities for learning and development are wide ranging.

The perinatal frame of mind is a vital part of the service; therefore, we work with individuals, couples, parent-infant relationships and within a whole family approach. This post provides a fantastic opportunity to work across two different teams: the Maternal Mental Health Team is a small, psychology-led service, whereas the Perinatal Mental Health Team employs a full multidisciplinary team.

There will be opportunities to be involved with direct clinical work, supporting formulation sessions for staff, as well as a variety of team-working opportunities. Other duties will involve managing clinical data, clinical record keeping and even supporting service development.

If you are passionate about improving access to evidence based and trauma-informed psychological support for women and birthing people, and being part of an innovative service, then we would welcome your application.

We request that applicants write a short piece in their supporting information (no more than 300 words) entitled: How my experience to date has prepared me for working within a Perinatal Mental Health Setting.
