Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust for the role of Lead Practitioner for Safeguarding (MCA/DOLS/MAPPA/Prevent Focus).
We are a busy integrated safeguarding team covering the Whole Family agenda for a community and mental health Trust.
We are looking for a dynamic individual with a background in safeguarding and mental health who can lead on the adult safeguarding agenda in partnership with our Lead Practitioner for Safeguarding Children to achieve a whole family approach.
You will manage the Senior Safeguarding Practitioners as well as the Prevent, MAPPA and MCA and deputise for the Head for Safeguarding as necessary.
The strengths we are looking for are a person who can support, enable and promote the growth of skills within the team. Has experience of working at an interagency level representing the Trust and moving forward on lessons learnt from reviews to embed in frontline practice. A pragmatic approach and experience of dealing with the associated stress that is involved in managing complex safeguarding.

Main duties of the job
- To act as professional lead and clinical expert for the full implementation of the Mental Capacity Act (MCA) and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS), across the Trust, including building on existing systems, to ensure up to date sustainable pathways in line with relevant legislation and guidance, to ensure the highest possible standard of care and support for those vulnerable adults to whom MCA and DoLS legislation applies.
- You will be responsible for ensuring the implementation of local and national policy guidance and legislation for safeguarding adults (Trusts Safeguarding Policy, the Mental Capacity Act 2005 (MCA), the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards 2009 (DoLS) and MAPPA and section 42.
- To represent the Trust in appropriate multi- agency adult safeguarding forums, including where necessary deputising for the Trust Head of Safeguarding at Local Safeguarding Board Executive Groups and Business Delivery Groups.
- To co-ordinate quality assurance processes, for Safeguarding Adults, Mental Capacity Act (MCA) and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS).
- The Lead Practitioner for Safeguarding Adults will also support the Trust Head of Safeguarding in the implementation of changes proposed nationally for safeguarding, ensuring systems and processes are in place to evidence impact and provide a clear route for disseminating information to the Head of Safeguarding and executive lead.
