Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Leicestershire Nutrition and Dietetic Service - Public Health team for a 0.5 wte (2.5 days) band 5 Public Health Nutritionist or Dietitian.

Leicester Nutrition and Dietetic Service (Community) has a team of approximately 90 staff, made of dietitians, public health nutritionists, assistant dietetic practitioners, dietetic support workers, and support team staff covering the population of Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland.

The post is to deliver practical interventions within Leicester city and Leicester city schools to provide support for children and families in making healthy eating and positive lifestyle changes. You will encourage and support schools to develop a Whole Food and Drink policy and will be involved in supporting the designing and delivering of training sessions for people working in Leicester.

You would join our Public Health Nutrition team which will see you also involved in student training and public health related initiatives e.g community engagement events.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will need to have experience of communicating to a variety of different people and a keen interest in working with children and their families within deprived communities.

The successful candidate will have a good knowledge of public health issues as well as good communication and team working skills and can also work independently.

You will also be required to drive to different venues; therefore, applicants must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a car.

The service is committed to continuing professional development (CPD) and personal development and we have good clinical supervision models and in-house CPD in place to support you.
