We are a team of friendly people who offer short breaks to adults with a learning disability.You'll be looking after a small number of patients, so your contact with them will be high.
An exciting opportunity has come available at the Gillivers Short Breaks Unit for Learning Disabilities.We are seeking motivated and enthusiastic staff nurses to join our team. The Gillivers provides respite to individuals with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities. The service provides respite for individuals with dedicated health needs, in single sex stays with specialist nursing and support staff.
We are looking for registered nurses (RNLD/RGN's) with excellent communication skills, enthusiasm and motivation to provide support to the team and leadership within the Unit.

Main duties of the job
The post holders will be band 5 nurses who can demonstrate that they have a range of transferable skills that will benefit the delivery of high standards of care and enrich the MDT.
The role involves supporting the nursing team to deliver packages of care to a diverse group of people with complex needs.
You will need to be able to display a positive attitude and have the ability to challenge positively where necessary.
The role will involve working closely with various members of the MDT and the team manager to ensure that care is of the highest standard, and performance standards and best practice are achieved.
Tasks will include meeting individual needs 24/7 such as:
- Personal care.
- Moving and handling.
- Medication administration.
- Care planning and completing risk assessments.
- Cleaning
- Preparing meals
- Laundry
- Meeting social and engagement needs
- Supporting specific health needs such as feeding via PEG and epilepsy management.
We provide 24/7 care throughout the year and our staff work various shift patterns across days and nights. Band 5 nurses work on a rotational basis to provide care to our patients.
