We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Assistant to join our team on Watermead Ward within the Directorate of Mental Health.

Watermead Ward is a 20 bedded acute Mental Health Ward, based at the Bradgate Mental Health Unit.

As a Clinical Assistant you will be responsible for ensuring patients, visitors and staff are accommodating/working within an environment which is welcoming, supportive, and safe. You will work within the ward environment to ensure the ward is operating within the required CQC, HSE, IPC, Trust guidelines, policies and procedures and will be responsible for escalating anything which fails to meet the criteria. Working closely with the Ward Sister/ Charge Nurse and the team you will support and embed both local and national policies and procedures to maintain high standards within the clinical environment.

Main duties of the job

As a Clinical Assistant your role would be to greet and receive patients, carers and visitors on to the ward, ensuring they are given the ward welcome booklet and orientated to the ward and routine.

You will develop a close working relationship with the ward team and MDT to ensure all staff are aware of their own responsibilities when working in the clinical environment.

You will be responsible on updating the ward team regarding new practice and procedures and support to embed good practice.

You will work on building good relationships with colleagues within the directorate and working together as a team.

Other duties include reporting and following up of maintenance works for your ward area, escalating anything which is required.

Carrying out the environmental checks and documenting these to ensure both clinical and non-clinical stores are maintained to a high standard, clutter free as well as ensuring a clutter free ward environment.

Manage the stock levels of clinical and non- clinical supplies and stock checking medical devises, calibration and hoist checks.
