Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Psychologist to join our friendly multidisciplinary team on Welford Ward at the Leicestershire Adult Eating Disorder Service. The post is based at Welford Ward / Forest Grange, Bennion Centre, Leicester.
The team is well established and have been providing high quality inpatient care for the residents of the East Midlands for over 20 years and recently retained its Quality accreditation from the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
The ward is a 15 bedded unit for the treatment of eating disorders, primarily anorexia nervosa. The ward operate a day programme, offering therapeutic and low key groups. A step-down provision is also provided to patients when they transition from the ward back to community care.
Assistant psychologists are a key part of our team, and the successful candidate will join our current multidisciplinary team of nurses, occupational therapists, psychiatrists, administrators, dietitians, research and evaluation associates.Teamwork and collaboration are highly valued in the service and encouraged from all.
Experience of working with people with an eating disorder will be an advantage. However, we offer opportunities for with those with limited experience in a developmental role.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will work primarily within the day programme and step-down elements of the ward provision.
This will involve co-ordination and delivery of therapeutic groups, one to one support of patients recently discharged from the ward, offering meal support to patients on the ward and providing input to the wider team through attendance at regular safety huddles and ward rounds.
There will also be regular opportunities to be actively involved in research and service evaluation within the service.
A good understanding of some of the physical and psychological risks experienced by our patients will be helpful. Regular supervision will be provided.
You will also be able to take part in our weekly CPD programme, where we have an extensive range of internal and external speakers.
