We have an exciting opportunity for a Matron to join our Acute and Forensic Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit Inpatient teams within the Directorate of mental Health.
The Matron for the Female pathway will oversee the clinical/ professional and operational leadership of 2 acute mental health wards and 1 female PICU, based at the Bradgate Mental Health Unit. The role of the Matron is to provide professional clinical and operational leadership and management for services ensuring high quality, safe and effective quality of care is delivered, within the resources available while ensuring that care is organised to meet the needs of the patient, enhancing their experience, and supporting staff to meet the Directorate and Trust objectives.
The matron role is instrumental in promoting high standards of clinical care and maintaining patient safety, reducing health inequalities, and promoting equality for all. Staff education & development, workforce retention and recruitment through compassionate, inclusive leadership.

Main duties of the job
Providing credible nursing leadership to deliver inspiration and direction by being a highly visible and accessible clinical leader with a demonstrable commitment to improving the quality of patient care for the designated areas within the identified portfolio.
The post holder will work as part of a designated Directorate and will take responsibility for the delivery and maintenance of the highest standards of nursing care. The post holder will have management responsibility and accountability for the provision of nursing care within the designated areas, including operational and resource management of the services covered. The post holder will be professionally accountable for standards of nursing care and influence the non-clinical contributions that are necessary to care delivery including standards of food, cleanliness of the environment and other services that impact on patient care and welfare.
The post holder will be required to develop excellent working relationships with vast multi-disciplinary/speciality teams, Heads of Nursing, Associate Medical Director, Medical colleagues, as well as external agencies such as housing, social care, Integrated Care board, and other stakeholders in order to effectively manage inpatient mental health services and support the development of pathways to improve patient and staff outcomes.
