Job summary
We have an opportunity for a highly motivated, dedicated and enthusiastic nurse to join our CAMHS Eating Disorders Team. This post is for 18.75 hours/week and is a 12 months fixed term contract (maternity cover).
The CAMHS eating disorder team provides specialist assessment and treatment for young people and their families up until the age of 18 years, presenting with Anorexia, Bulimia, Binge Eating Disorder and ARFID. We are a diverse multi-disciplinary team, with an established nursing structure, alongside a range of other disciplines.
There are multiple opportunities for training and development, and you will be provided with a robust induction programme, with relevant in-house training to equip you to be able to assess and offer treatment for eating disorders.
We also support young people with a range of other comorbid difficulties in including low mood and anxiety, alongside neurodiversity.
The team work in a very collaborative and systemic way, and there will be multiple opportunities for joint working with your colleagues.
You will also be part of the wider nursing professions group across CAMHS with good peer support and clinical supervision. Ideally you will be qualified mental health nurse with current NMC registration and have experience of working with complex mental health needs in community settings, alongside experience of working with young people.
Main duties of the job
The role includes:
- Supporting the team's duty service, by offering initial telephone triages when referrals come through to the team.
- Providing specialist assessment for eating disorders and other comorbid needs.
- Providing therapeutic work for eating disorders and other associated comorbidities.
- The post involves providing specialist assessment and intervention to children and young people and their families.
- Responsibilities include attending MDT meetings, being part of formulation discussions, holding clinical responsibility for patients, working with families and wider networks such as social care and schools.
- To provide specialist assessment of eating disorders alongside additional assessment of comorbid difficulties, such as trauma-related symptoms, alongside contributing to the assessment of neruodevelopmental conditions.
- To provide therapeutic input to young people and their families as part of their first line treatment for eating disorders.
- To also provide therapeutic input for comorbid difficulties such as low mood and anxiety.
- To support the duty triage process by offering initial telephone reviews for new referrals.
