Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Families, Young People, Children's and Learning Disability (FYPCLDA) Directorate for a Ward Sister on our Eating Disorder Ward.

Welford Ward, based at the Glenfield Hospital site is a 15 bedded Eating Disorder Unit which cares for adults with severe Anorexia Nervosa.

Funded by the Provider Collaborative the ward provides therapeutic care to patients from across the East Midlands.

The ward encompasses a varied MDT with medics, nurses, healthcare support workers, occupational therapists and dietitians who work together to collaborative provide the best care for patients.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for the care, quality, patient safety, performance and clinical activity of the ward. This will be achieved through professional nursing leadership. Working with the MDT they will ensure delivery of a clinically effective service.

You will carry 24 hour responsibility and professional and managerial accountability, which includes management of staff, budgets, quality and standards of practice of all members of the team by enhancing systems such as clinical supervision, personal development and competency planning and monitoring, clinical audit, policy compliance checks etc.

You will work closely with other clinical specialists, clinical leads and the wider multidisciplinary team, working alongside multi-agency partners to meet the diverse health needs of the population.

It is also key that the post holder will foster a culture of openness and a transparent approach between staff and with external stakeholders.
