The Patient Catering Operations Officer is a new role in LPT Estates & Facilities. This recognises the important transformation the Trust is making to invest in our buildings, fleet and accommodation, which will be managed directly by the Trust through the FM Transformation programme.

The postholder will report into the Facilities Manager Catering Lead and will deputise for the Facilities Manager Catering Lead on all catering aspects of the facilities services related activities to ensure that the delivery of a high quality and cost-effective catering service for patients, staff and visitors is provided.

The post holder will be responsible for coordinating, planning and overseeing tasks and operations within the catering team covering activities across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland ensuring that services delivered are performance monitored, quality assured and compliant and that the internal operational staff are able to effectively deliver the required care through patient feeding.

The postholder will work with the Facilities Managers, Trust Dietician lead and clinical managers to ensure the delivery of a compliant catering service and manage the production processes ensuring that all control procedures are consistently followed together with ensuring stock is controlled and costs minimised.

Main duties of the job

To source suppliers, obtain quotations and raise purchase orders for catering services in line with LPT financial guidelines

Line manage staff, consultants and contractors as projects develop

Provide performance data detailing deviations from key performance indicators and any contractual remedies

Monitor standards, quality and production levels and act on the results accordingly

  • Undertakes catering audits and responsible for equipment and catering testing

Waste Management responsibility is within the catering services, therefore to work with the Trust lead for waste to ensure waste policies and practices are adhered to in correct and safe manner at all times

Support with mobilising contracts which may entail working ad-hoc weekends or out of hours.

Ensurethat the patient related catering activities support clinical service delivery withinthe agreed parameters and support nutritional care and patient safety

To ensure that all Food Safety and Health & Safety legislations are adhered to at all times and to ensure the Trust meets its legal obligations in relation to food preparation and service.
