Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Principle Clinical Psychologist to work with the Specialist Autism Team (SAT), & the Adult Autism Assessment Service (AAAS). SAT work with young people age14+ years & adults to offer post diagnostic support to young people & adults with Autism and their family/ carers.The AAAS offers an autism diagnostic service for adults age 18+ years.

LPT is a university teaching and research NHS trust. This role gives opportunities for links with a world leading research centre in Autism, ADHD, psychiatric epidemiology, based at the University of Leicester. Successful applicants will be supported to obtain an honorary academic title at the University of Leicester based on their research experience. There will be protected time to pursue CPD / research interests.

Successful candidates will have experience & expertise in working with people with Autism & Complex needs. They will offer clinical expertise & psychological leadership to a dynamic MDT. SAT & AAAS provide consultancy & advice to health colleagues and to community providers.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will exercise full responsibility and autonomy for the assessment, treatment and discharge of adults referred to AAAS and their carers and families, where the presenting difficulties and concerns can be managed as a psychologically based intervention.

The post holder will provide highly specialised professional knowledge, advice and support to other agencies and members of the multi-disciplinary team on related topics and support recently diagnosed autistic children (over 14 years) and adults in offering post-diagnostic support, which may include delivering workshops to people with autism, their families, and other members of the system.

The post holder will support the Clinical Team Lead with the management of incoming referrals, the waiting list, allocation of clients, workload of staff members and decisions about teh nature of service provided.

This post attracts a Welcome Bonus. This comprises of an initial payment of £1,800 pro rata to hours worked, payable with your first salary, a further payment of £1,800 pro rata to hours worked after 12 months service and a final payment of £1,400 pro rata to hours worked after 18 months service. Qualifying criteria and Scheme Rules do apply, including a minimum tenure in post of 24 months to avoid any repayment. Full details are available upon request.
