We are currently seeking one Full-time Speech & Language Therapists to join our Learning Disabilities Service.

  • To provide highly specialist speech and language (SLT) assessment, advice and treatment
  • To manage a defined caseload of patients.
  • To provide expertise in a highly specialist area and to offer advice and consultation on clients care to other members of the team and external agencies.
  • To work within the professional practice guidelines.
  • To work and act as a key member of the multi-disciplinary team, supporting each patient in the achievement of their planned outcomes.

Main duties of the job

Contribute to the delivery of the Communication Strategy and the Eating and Drinking Care Pathway with access to professional advice and guidance.

Be responsible for their own workload with support around prioritisation.

Work closely with other members of the multidisciplinary team and with other agencies

Participate in the development and delivery of training to others in relation to individual clients

Supervise the work of assistants, volunteers and students as required when fully registered with RCSLT

Contribute to development and audit projects

Demonstrate clinical effectiveness by the use of evidence based practice and outcome measures.

  • Health Professional Council- Licence to Practice
  • Registered Member of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists

  • Awareness of the principles of clinical governance

Experience

  • Relevant experience at an undergraduate/postgraduate level , showing that they can apply their learning to learning disability services
