Job summary

This is an excellent opportunity to join our experienced and successful team supporting improvement across the NHS. 360 Assurance is an NHS hosted service hosted by Leicestershire Partnership Trust, this post is based in Worcester. We deliver high quality internal audit, assurance and consultancy work to a large number of organisations, predominantly within the NHS. You will get the chance to work across a range of organisations in an important role within our team supporting the delivery ofinternal audit services, bringing innovation to support our clients with the increasingly challenging NHS agenda.

You will contribute to the development of ourservices and support the management team.The post holder will support and deputise for Client Managers, attend Audit Committees, develop work programmes from agreed audit plans,and will have responsibility for managing a small number of staff.

The role will be based in Worcester but travel across the client base will be required. A driving licence and car availability is essential.

Main duties of the job

As part of this role you will be required to plan and perform internal audits covering a wide range of systems in accordance with the 360 Assurance Internal Audit Manual and the Public Sector Internal Audit Standards. All work undertaken will be clearly documented within our audit management software and supported by appropriate evidence.

You will be expected to deliver complex audits, with minimal supervision, undertaking your own research and planning to ensure audit reviews satisfy the required objectives and meet client expectations. You will understand the wider context of the work which is being conducted and how this relates to the annual Head of Internal Audit Opinion and for the client Audit Committees.

You will be required to deliver value added work, to a high quality and be able to perform reliable and accurate work to maintain the organisations reputation and standing. As part of the role you will regularly liaise with Executives and senior managers from NHS organisations, as well as present information and reports to senior committees so excellent communication skills and confidence presenting are essential.

The role will require administrative support to senior staff in the management of their client portfolios which includes the production of Audit Committee progress reports and monitoring of implementation of internal audit actions.

This role will require supervision and line management of audit staff.

  • Qualified in relevant CCAB/IIA/IRM professional qualification or equivalent knowledge and in-depth experience acquired in the audit,
  • compliance, assurance or financial accounts field.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent.
  • GCSE qualification (or equivalent) must include English Language / Literature & Mathematics grade C or above.

Experience

  • Supervisory experience including managing staff undertaking audit, compliance and/or assurance assignments.
  • Experience of reviewing and presenting findings from complex operational system reviews to senior management with little or no supervision.
  • Experience of having conducted and/or facilitated meetings to obtain and/or present information, including the need to use conflict resolution and negotiation skills when required.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Detailed understanding of the audit planning process, as well as application of systems based and risk-based auditing processes.
  • Detailed understanding of the principles of risk management, governance arrangements and the assurance process.

Desirable

  • Detailed understanding of how the Internal Audit process sits within an organisations governance arrangements, as well as within the wider NHS.
  • Basic understanding of the NHS Structure and NHS Objectives.
  • Understanding of relationship between Internal and External Audit and other review bodies.
