Job summary
The Agnes Unit is a 12 bedded assessment & treatment inpatient unit for people with learning disabilities aged 18 and over who have mental health problems, pervasive developmental disorders and challenging behaviour.
The Band 3 HCSW role involves having good relationships with patients and up to date knowledge of care plans, as well as providing leadership in the clinical areas to other members of the team.

Our services to patients are on a 24/7 basis and you will be expected to work a variety of shift patterns. We try and accommodate individual needs through flexible working, but cant guarantee we can accommodate every request.
Interviews will be assessment centre based, in groups, lasting a full day.
Main duties of the job
- Consider their own clinical judgement, that of the staff on pod, the strength of the team and patients presentation to make decisions about care on a moment-to-moment basis.
Role modelling and sharing good practice to other team members would also be extremely important.The Band 3 HCSW's will provide direct supervision to Band 2 HCSWs.
You will also involve provide guidance and direction to a pod staff team on shift, whilst also being able to listen to others opinions and take them into account.
- to support the named nurse with direct and indirect tasks related to patient care.
- Administration of rescue medication when required
- Leading escorted leaves
- You willbe involved in long-term planning of care. This involves taking observations from direct clinical work, as well as the experience of staff which will be included in long-term care planning meetings with the named nurse, to help develop care plans, activity plans, strategies, and approaches to working.
- Supporting the local training programme.
- Support the patients activity programme, working alongside the therapies team and ensuring these plans are implemented outside of therapy staff working hours
- Ensuring care plans are followed
- Providing direct supervision to Band 2 HCSWs regarding care plans, clinical duties etc
- Supporting the local training programme, working with the Practice Development Nurse
- Complete additional courses required for the role including clinical and leadership courses
