Assistant Psychologist within the Young Peoples Team

Job summary

The CAMHS Young Peoples Team are a specialist CAMHS service who work directly with young people up to the age of 18 years old who are looked after, adopted, unaccompanied asylum seeking, homeless or involved with youth justice. We provide support to young people who present with a moderate to severe mental illness within our multidisciplinary team.

We are advertising this new fixed term role (until April 2025) to join our team, this role will offer you the chance to work alongside our highly skilled professionals and develop your own therapeutic skills and understanding.

We are looking for someone who has pre-existing experience of working with vulnerable individuals and who is highly motivated to be an active part of this exciting new project!

This role will be based over 2 areas, within our core Young Peoples Team and within our new project with the City Local Authority 'staying close, staying connected' this is a Local Authority led pilot to ensure that young people who are under local authority care are well supported during their transition to adulthood. This post will include the design and evaluation of the health aspect of this pilot with monthly reporting to our colleagues within the City Local Authority.

Interviews for this role will be held on the 11th January 2024 at Westcotes House, we have a limited number of interview slots and this advert may be closed early when a suitable number of candidates have been recieved.

Main duties of the job

  • to support qualified psychologists to score and interpret psychometrics as part of broader neurodevelopmental assessment
  • to be supported to offer direct psychological interventions following specific treatment models; this may include taking an outreach based approach
  • to evaluate outcomes and present this to our partner agencies
  • to be involved with the design of a new pilot within the Leicester City Local Authority and to help evaluate this pilot.
  • to be part of our multidisciplinary team, including being involved and supported in discussing referrals to our service, formulations and collaborative plans of care for young people within our service.
  • to contribute to risk formulation and planning under supervision, for young people in regards to their mental health
  • to undertake assessments of young people with the oversight and support of a qualified member of staff.
  • to work closely with social care and their existing services.
