An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated
individual to join the Directorate of Mental Health (DMH) as the Patient Flow Team
Manager across our Mental Health Inpatient Settings.
The post holder will be joining
the team at an exciting time for mental health services, they will play an
integral part in the redesign and provision of services for those accessing
mental health services across Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland.
The successful candidate will be
actively involved in shaping the delivery of services for mental health
inpatients working in line with the NHS Long Term Plan.
As part of the Trusts Step Up To
Great Programme you will support the implementation of the Inpatient
Therapeutic Workstream, developing the workforce for the future, working
closely with your clinical leads to support implementation and Quality
Improvement for Inpatient services.
This role is both operational and clinical, with the expectation that the successful candidate will undertake all relevant clinical training requirements.

Main duties of the job
The patient flow team manager will be responsible for the efficient and effective management of the patient journey through the Trusts Mental Health Inpatient settings, from admission to discharge. This is a key role within the DMH ensuring inpatients are cared for in the most appropriate location and to avoid out of area placement of our patients, impacting on patient experience, good quality care and Trust finances. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring National and Trust targets are sustained in relation to Out of Area placements, something DMH are very proud to have maintained in the last 3years, and support the patients who are currently cared for in specialist placements.
The post holder will be required to develop excellent working relationships with vast multi-disciplinary/speciality teams, Heads of Nursing, Associate Medical Director, Medical colleagues, as well as external agencies such as housing, social care, CCGs and other stakeholders in order to effectively manage the flow of patients through Inpatient mental health services.
The Patient Flow Team Manager will line manage a range of professionals within the patient flow team, acting as a role model and providing clear and consistent leadership and management, utilising resources effectively. The successful candidate will be a key member of the Inpatient management team and will support the service manager in the leadership and development of the integrated mental health service.

- Relevant Professional qualification
- Hold a masters degree and/or proven experience of managing a team, highly developed specialist knowledge of mental health management, the mental health patient group, completed leadership training, and post registration study.
