Job summary

Mental Health Services Urgent Care and Access Pathway has an exciting opportunity for a skilled Band 6 Mental Health Practitioner with an interest and/or experience in the criminal justice system, to join the Criminal Justice Liaison and Diversion Service.

The service operates from police custody and court, which directly engages and supports vulnerable people going through criminal justice system.

You will be working with both adults and young people, within what is a very interesting and rewarding area of care that is continuing to develop. As a front-line service, each day can be different in what can be a busy and unpredictable environment.

As a Mental Health Practitioner, the post holder will have clinical responsibilities across the service and be able to supervise and line manage junior staff.

The post is open to experienced practitioners from a variety of disciplines including nursing, social work, and occupational therapy who are passionate and motivated.

The successful applicant will be required to apply for Leicestershire Police vetting clearance and have it approved before a contract can be agreed. Please be aware of the common failures in relation to police vetting.

Main duties of the job

    • The post holder will be expected to adopt the policies and philosophy of LPT.
    • Promote independence, foster a learning culture, enhance the autonomy of the service user, and ensure high quality, compassionate, person-centred care.
    • Clinically and professionally provide line management and supervision to junior team members.
    • Contribute to supporting other team members.
    • Ensure evidence-based practice is delivered to continually improve the quality of the responsive services.
    • Be responsible for performing comprehensive service user assessments, in addition to planning, implementing and evaluating individualised high-quality care.
    • Be required to work collaboratively and clinically within a multi-agency team and contribute to the provision and development of an effective service in line with legislative, procedural, and contractual requirements.
    • Will work within different services and pathways within criminal justice, to ensure all criminal justice service users gain the assessment, support and care required.
    • Above all the post holder will ensure they deliver safe, culturally competent, effective, timely and accessible care that is in accordance with national and local priorities and responsive to the needs of individuals in contact with the service.
