Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Applied Psychologist within the Inpatient Psychology Team!
The role is available as a Band 7 Preceptorship (progression to Band 8A upon completion of Preceptorship) or Band 8A.
The Inpatient Psychology team work proactively and creatively to embed
psychological thinking and a formulation-driven approach across a busy inpatient
unit, with rich opportunity for consultation and project-related work. We are in the early stages of introducing an
Open Dialogue approach to patient care which is an approach grounded in systemic principles, which
offers an integrated way of engaging with families and a persons social
network from the very start of seeking help.
You will be based at the
Bradgate Mental Health Unit which provides acute inpatient
care to male and female working-age adults. The unit consists of 7 acute wards
and 2 Psychiatric Intensive Care Units (PICUs). Service Users within the acute
inpatient mental health service present at times of crisis, often experiencing
high levels of emotional distress, and typically have complex, severe and
enduring mental health difficulties.

Main duties of the job
To
work as an autonomous Applied Psychologist within Inpatient Psychology Service.
To
be responsible for the effective management and treatment of service users with
a range of presentations.
To
provide evidence-based psychological interventions
To
contribute to service development initiatives by means of evaluation,
innovation, and research. This includes
undertaking research leading to peer-reviewed publications
To
work with the Pathway Leads to support the delivery of a high-quality,
responsive and accessible psychological service.
Hone
skills and foster expertise in specialist areas
To
provide education, training and supervision to clinical staff working within or
external to the Trust

Qualifications
Essential
- Band 7 Preceptorship
- Honours degree in Psychology or with Psychology as the main subject.
- Eligibility for Graduate Membership of the British Psychology Society.
- Doctorate in Clinical Psychology or UK HCPC approved and recognised equivalent qualification in Clinical Psychology.
- Band 8A
- Honours degree in Psychology or with Psychology as the main subject.
- Eligibility for Graduate Membership of the British Psychological Society (BPS).
- Doctoral (DPsych) or recognised and approved equivalent qualification in Clinical Psychology.
