Mill Lodge is a Mental Health Inpatient Ward for adults with Huntington's disease. The patients come for a period of assessment for their physical, mental and cognitive functioning.

The focus of the unit is to assist people in regaining the skills to enable them to function at their optimum. The multidisciplinary team at Mill Lodge is a well-established team who take pride in the delivery of care in the unit.

We are looking for Health Care Support Workers who are caring, compassionate and genuinely interested in working with patients at all stages of the disease including end of life care.

Main duties of the job

The role of the Healthcare Assistant is to support the qualified nursing staff and the wider multi-disciplinary team in the delivery of direct patient care.

The main duties of the Healthcare Support Worker Role include:

  • Taking physical measurements from named patients as delegated by the team.
  • Supporting patients with personal care and dietary requirements
  • Supporting patients in maintaining their health and wellbeing
  • Undertaking specified and delegated clinical and therapeutic activities, providing audits and data collection
  • Accompanying patients on external visits
  • Under the supervision of healthcare professionals assist the healthcare team with the provision of clinical care
  • Ensuring high standards are maintained in a safe environment, which promotes equality and sensitivity for all individuals
  • Assisting Registered Professionals in the implementation and evaluation of individualised care plans; and accurately recording patient information.

  • GCSE (or equivalent qualification) in Maths and English or Functional Skills Level 2 qualification in Maths and English.
  • Required to successfully complete Functional Skills Level 2 qualification in Maths and English within six months (if you do not hold relevant qualifications).
