Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen here at LPT to join the senior management team of our Procurement Department. We are an inclusive, multi-award winning team that strives on working towards being "Best in Class" for procurement.
As a Category Manager, you will line manage one Category Assistant and lead a category of spend - either clinical or non-clinical. You will support and advise the Head of Procurement on a regular basis, and deputise as necessary. You will work off your own initiative ensuring the Procurement Team are led effectively, work to our Trust Values, and support the wider Finance Directorate and Clinical departments.

Main duties of the job
Reporting to the Head of Procurement, you will manage your designated category, devising appropriate strategies in conjunction with key members and teams within the Trust. You will manage a portfolio of projects within your category and achieve the most economic supply arrangements.
You will support the coverage of £120m non-pay spend across the Trust, ensuring strategies that deliver value for money and improved services for designated Categories.
You will provide a comprehensive procurement advisory and planning service to divisional teams, services and Corporate Directorates, supporting them in driving efficiency in clinical and non-clinical expenditure.
You will be required to deliver procurements within pre-defined budgets, procurement of physical assets, supplies or services for a department or service, and be responsible for the authorisation of new contracts and purchase orders.
You will be responsible for ensuring all products and services within the scope of the post are procured in line with local and national procurement strategy and in line with UK Procurement legislation and SFIs, SOs, to the Services and Corporate Directorates, supporting them in driving efficiency in clinical and non-clinical expenditure. You will have corporate responsibility for ensuring policy implementation that requires a significant amount of change management.
You will be resourceful and provide a confident personal presentation to staff at all levels within the Trust.
