Job summary

Leicestershire Nutrition and Dietetic Service (Community) have a vacancy for a permanent Band 6 Dietitian (0.4wte or 14.5 hours) to join our friendly, innovative Nutrition and Dietetic team within Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust.

Leicester Nutrition and Dietetic Service (Community) has a team of approximately 80 staff, made of dietitians, community nutritionists, dietetic support workers, community food workers and support team staff covering the population of Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland.

The role of this post holder will be to work as a school meals dietitian for Leicestershire County Councils school meals service Leicestershire Traded Standards (LTS) across Leicestershire but will also include other areas where LTS offers a school meals service. You will have an NHS base but after completing training there is scope to be able to work from home. This is a permanent dietetic post, with the current LTS contract running until May 2024.

The post holder will work alongside the already established school meals dietitian working with the council. Providing information to parents/carers, managers, catering, admin and school staff for example on school meal medical diets, allergen laws, and food-based standards. You will work closely with Leicestershire County Council providing nutritional information for school children.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an HCPC registered dietitian with experience or an interest in expanding their knowledge around school meals. The successful candidate will have good knowledge of special medical diets, leadership, communication and team working skills, who can also work independently.

The service is committed to CPD and personal development and we have good clinical supervision models and in-house CPD in place to support you. The service is involved in the pre-registration placements for student dietitians undertaking A, B and C placements, to which the post-holder will contribute.
