Job summary

The Estates and Facilities Directorate at Leicester Partnership Trust are continuing to expand our operational support team and are seeking an experienced and competent Fleet, Logistics and Portering Manager. Primarily focused on Fleet Management and responsible for the Portering team, the role will support all operational vehicles providing a key point of contact for operational managers and service providers.

This is an exciting opportunity and the post holder will be required to lead and manage the logistics operatives, overseeing the day to day operations, fleet management and providing a transport service to the Trust.

You will be responsible for directing, coordinating, planning and overseeing tasks and operations within the central portering, logistics and transportation team covering activities across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

Main duties of the job

  • Line manage staff, consultants and contractors as projects develop; this will include recruitment, selection, appraisal, and performance management.
  • Identify, organise and develop all tasks required by the central portering department. This requires initiative and an in-depth knowledge to generation of work including critical delivery points i.e pathology/pharmacy etc.
  • To support the Estates and Facilities Management Team in all aspects of fleet equipment
  • Regularly review manufacturers, both car & commercial to ensure the most cost effective & safest vehicles are offered to the business including the review of alternative fuelled and electric vehicles. Including assessing whole life costs and environmental impact
  • Ensure all vehicle incidents are recorded accurately & the information passed to the relevant parties within the business to monitor any training or further action as deemed necessary
  • Support with mobilising contracts which may entail working ad-hoc weekends or out of hours.
  • Managing strict vehicle maintenance and servicing schedules to minimise downtime

Essential

  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent experience in working at a senior level within a similar environment
  • Post-graduate qualification in Transport Management, or equivalent, and evidence of continued professional development, or equivalent specialist knowledge and experience
  • Driving licence

Desirable

  • Management qualification or demonstrable experience in a management position within the estates and facilities domain in NHS or a comparable complex organisation setting.

Experience

Essential

  • Excellent IT skills with a variety of software packages and ability to work on multiple applications at the same time
  • System administrator experience of multifaceted and technical data systems - scheduling
  • Significant experience of creating and maintaining spreadsheets and databases
  • Experience of dealing with confidential information
  • Practical experience of managing complex projects or programmes across professional and organisational boundaries
  • Ability to use own initiative, provide monitoring and supervision of external 3rd party contracts
  • Create complex schedules of work for external contracts including the reallocation of work schedules
  • NHS experience of working within a complex organisation
  • Budget management and financial skills
