Job summary
It is an exciting time to join community mental health services as we are developing our neighbourhood teams which will test new ways of providing mental health interventions for adults with severe mental illness and complex needs.
You will work as part of a team to provide a comprehensive, efficient and effective support service to the wider Multi-disciplinary team supported by an agreed work plan. You will use knowledge of health and social services available in the locality, including those offered by the community and voluntary sector, to link people up with these and help them overcome any barriers they might encounter with the aim to help people improve their quality of life and avoid unplanned hospital admissions.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for x2 experienced Specialist Occupational Therapists to join our Community Mental Health Occupational Therapy Teams, working across Leicester.
We are currently remodelling our workforce to enhance Occupational Therapy delivery across LLR within the Planned Treatment and Recovery Teams (PTRTs). As a result, we currently have opportunities in the following PTRTs / locations:
City West Community Mental Health Team : Based in Leicester. 37.5 hours.
City Central Community Mental Health Team: Based in Leicester. 22.5 hours.

Main duties of the job
- You need a high level of autonomy, working predominantly within patients own homes and community settings, as well as utilising phone and video appointments.
- You must be able to establish therapeutic relationships with people to support their recovery journey through thorough assessment, collaborative goal setting, intervention planning and delivery.
- You will delegate appropriate tasks / interventions to other members of the OT team, monitoring their work and supporting them to enhance their skills, competencies, and confidence.
- You will have strong engagement and motivational skills and be flexible in working with patients with severe and enduring complex mental health needs.
- You will clinically supervise junior members of staff and you will also be provided with professional and management supervision.
There are many CPD opportunities available, with recent team training in different occupation focussed models and assessments such as Allens Cognitive Disability Model and Sensory Integration, as well as other OT specific in-service training and development opportunities.
We offer a blended approach to working and you will be supported to work from home as well as at an office base, depending on team and patient need.
