Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Occupational Therapist to join our innovative community therapy team working across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

This is a superb opportunity for anyone wanting experience working in paediatrics in a development role within a supportive team or to further broaden your current paediatric experience and skills.

The Children's Occupational Therapy Service seeks to provide a high quality service to children young people and their families in their home, nurseries and schools.

We have developed pathways within Early Years, Complex Disability and Physical disability, and specialist interests in eating and drinking difficulties, palliative care, neuromuscular conditions, hemiplegia and splinting and have the support of a Clinical Professional Lead.

You need to be able to demonstrate an understanding of working in a community setting, the complexities of working within a family and a multidisciplinary multiagency environment, be familiar with children's equipment and their use.

You will be supported in the training of the delivery of a number of assessment tools and interventions used by Occupational Therapists in community children's services.

Main duties of the job

To provide assessment, treatment and advice to children and families with community settings to promote independence in activities of daily living by following best practice guidelines. Working with children between the ages of 0-19 in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. This will include the provision of equipment.

To work as a member of Childrens Occupational Therapy Service ensuring effective communication and partnerships both within the service and with other disciplines and agencies.

Work collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families.
