Job summary

We have a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Registered Dietitian to join our established Primary Care Dietetic Team. Your excellent communication and organisational skills together with your passion for working in Primary Care will make you the ideal candidate!

This role will provide you with career development opportunities as well as the option to consider rotations into other dietetic specialisms depending on capacity. We also provide training and guidance to support you with line management duties to develop your leadership skills as well as opportunities to be involved with service improvement initiatives. You will also be involved in education and training of health care professionals enabling you to enhance your communication skills in facilitating high quality patient care.

The role currently involves a combination of remote and face to face duties enabling some flexibility with service delivery,

Leicester Nutrition and Dietetic Service (Community) has a team of approximately 70 staff working in primary care, mental health, public health, and home enteral nutrition and is made up of dietitians, community nutritionists, dietetic support workers and support team staff covering the population of LLR.

Main duties of the job

As part of the Primary Care Team you will work you will work closely with the GPs, Practice staff and community staff across Primary Care Networks to support patients with appropriate dietary advice in a clinical setting both face to face, virtually and as group education sessions. The role is being developed further and will include FODMAP and Diabetes Support. There is also the option to shadow other staff within the service.

We support patients in the community hospitals within Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. You will be responsible for clinical input, training, food groups and service evaluation with support from your Team Leader within this setting. You will also be involved in line management of our band 5s and guiding our dietetic support workers and training of student dietitians.

A valid UK driving license and access to a vehicle for work purposes is essential for this role.

  • A four year Undergraduate First or a Two year Post Graduate Degree in Nutrition & Dietetics or similar non-UK qualification.
  • UK Registered Dietitian with the Health and Care Professions Council.

Desirable

  • Working towards completion of a validated course in specialist area of practice or working towards gaining the Diploma in Advanced Dietetic Practice.

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • Can demonstrate excellent organisational, time management and supervisory skills.
  • Is able to demonstrate skills as an expert practitioner in nutrition support and can demonstrate role in influencing multi-professional practice in this area. Is able to support and take a key role the professional development of others.

  • Is able to demonstrate ability to initiate and be involved in audit/research activities.
