Job summary

We are seeking a Band 6 Dietitian to join us in the Adult Eating Disorders Team, based at The Bennion Centre, on the Glenfield Hospital Site.

Whether you are experienced in working with patients who have Eating Disorders and are looking to develop your career with LPT, or an experienced dietician within a different clinical area, we would value your contribution to our diverse team.

Due to the success of the current Mental Health Team and internal promotion, additional funding has been secured on a permanent basis to expand our team even further.

Main duties of the job

Leicester Nutrition and Dietetic Community Services multidisciplinary team works across primary care, mental health, public health & home enteral nutrition.

The team consists of dietitians, community nutritionists, dietetic support workers & support team staff covering the population of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

As a senior member of the Leicestershire Adult Eating Disorders service you will be involved in role-modelling & mentoring team members. You will be involved in the treatment of both inpatients and community patients on the step-up pathway.

We are seeking a dietician who has excellent communication as well as organisational, management and leadership skills to be involved in the exciting expansion of our team.

The service is committed to providing comprehensive CPD and we utilise clinical supervision models to support staff development.

Some of the duties within this role include:

  • working as a member of the primary care dietetic team to provide professional and evidence based dietetic advice to patients, parents/carers and staff within the context of Adult Eating Disorders.
  • To manage the Adult Eating Disorder caseload effectively by working with inpatients, phone reviews, outpatient appointments, attending MDT meetings for patients and making clinical decisions.
  • To promote & be responsible for appropriate & best practice, evidence-based advice.
  • Ensuring that appropriate advice is given to relevant services/ teams /departments across primary care & services.

Essential

  • A four year Undergraduate First or a Two year Post Graduate Degree in Nutrition & Dietetics or similar non-UK qualification.
  • UK Registered Dietitian with the Health and Care Professions Council.

Desirable

  • Working towards completion of a validated course in specialist area of practice or working towards gaining the Diploma in Advanced Dietetic Practice.

Experience

Essential

  • Post-registration experience working in a varied dietetic environment.
  • Has developed expert practice in primary care and nutritional support and aware of different ways of caseload management and delivering services.
  • Can demonstrate evidence of continued professional development (e.g. keeps a professional portfolio, BDA Continuing Professional Development Award, peer reviewed publications, presentations).

Desirable

  • Is able to demonstrate ability to initiate and be involved in audit/research activities.
  • Previous involvement with the pre-registration practice placements for Dietitians.

Knowledge and Skills
