Band 7/8a Psychologist- Adult Treatment & Recovery Teams
This job is now closed
Job summary
We are keen to have psychologists join us at band 8a, or at band 7 on a preceptorship, in Adult Treatment & Recovery Teams across the county in the Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust.
A preceptorship is a structured period of transition for the Newly Qualified Practitioner, during which time they are supported by an experienced practitioner to develop their confidence and refine their skills (NHS Employers, 2017). For a recently qualified psychologist a period of time at Band 7 is an opportunity to consolidate and further develop core practitioner skills. Each individual will be unique in terms of the existing skills and experience they bring to the post, and developmental objectives will be individually tailored in conjunction with the needs of the service. The achievement of the agreed goals/objectives will be supported by the Preceptees Clinical Supervisor and overseen by the Consultant / Lead Psychologist for that area. When the relevant developmental objectives are reached the psychologist will be re-graded to the nearest spine point to their current salary on the 8a scale.
In most cases the preceptorship process will take between 18 and 24 months to complete, although in exceptional circumstances the time frame may be reduced or extended. We have psychologists as pathway leads for complex trauma, psychosis and personality disorders who are supported by psychologists at every grade.
Main duties of the job
In our multidisciplinary Treatment & Recovery Teams you will work alongside Lead Psychologists, Clinical Associate Psychologists and Assistant Psychologists to help our population through direct and indirect interventions, delivering individual and group interventions, supervising, and making a psychological contribution to the interventions of other professionals in the team.
You will have opportunity to apply and/or hone the breadth of psychology skills and do so with the support and supervision of a group of experienced psychologists that meet regularly for clinical supervision, learning, clinical and service development discussion, and peer support. There will be opportunities to develop yourself through internal and external training programmes (we will train you in EMDR), and to shape our mental health services.
We have strong links to the University of Leicester and you can be involved in teaching, trainee placements, and input to the development of the curriculum. The network of psychologists across LPT range of services will meet regularly to exchange ideas and learning through a forum meeting.
We are committed to LPT being a great place to work and should you choose to join us there are several schemes to support and enhance your well-being and satisfaction. We also look to accommodate you whether you seek full-time, part-time and/or flexible working arrangements.
