Assistant Psychologist

Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic assistant psychologistwith an interest in professional development in the field of parent-infant mental health to join our Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale Parent Infant Mental Health Service (PIMHS). As an assistant psychologist you will be integral to the delivery of a high-quality parent infant mental health service across the borough. You will be joining an experienced, skilled and highly committed team.

You will receive line management supervision and clinical supervision from the clinical lead for PIMHS .

Main duties of the job

You will be supporting with the delivery of a clinical service to babies and families through developing and assisting with group work, developing resources (digital and hard copies), and supporting clinicians with their clinical work. There will be opportunities for undertaking some low level clinical work under closely monitored supervision within the level of your own competence.

The role includes supporting the delivery of the Best Start for Life programme for local babies and their parents and carers. This involve promoting awareness of the importance ofparent infant mental health by providing support with coordinating workforce training, and contributing to our social media presence anddigital offer. The role will also involve contributing to the evaluation of service activity and delivery for BSFLacross Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale by collecting, analysing and summarising data for reporting and clinical purposes.

About us

The postholder will be a member the Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale Early Attachment Service, a multi- disciplinary parent-infant mental health (PIMH) service for under 2s. We provide a clinical service, training, consultation, and supervision across the large multi-agency network of professionals. We have good links with Health Visiting, Maternity Services, Children's Centres, Adult Mental Health, Voluntary sector, Children's Social Care and Early Help. The team has regular face-to-face team meetings, individual supervisions and line management. There are regular opportunities for support and CPD.We are a supportive team with a strong belief in the value of relationships at the core of our work.   • An upper second-class honours degree or higher in psychology. Entitlement to graduate membership of the British Psychological Society

  • Undergraduate research relevant to Child Psychology o Further postgraduate training in relevant areas of psychology and / or mental health

Experience

  • Work as a Psychology Assistant in Child Specialty

Desirable

  • Experience using micro computers for data analysis

Knowledge

  • An understanding of infant development, parental mental health and the parent-infant relationship
  • Knowledge of child development
  • An understanding of psychology applied to mental health care

  • Evidence of ability to design and evaluate research projects relevant to Clinical Psychology
