Job summary

The Team Manager will be responsible for the operational management and development of the OpCourage North West service in conjunction with the senior management team.

OpCourage North West is a multi-disciplinary team of practitioners is commissioned to offer psychological treatment and interventions to Veterans of the British Armed Forces who live in the North West, who are experiencing mental health difficulties. The post holder will manage the operational requirements of the service, and have clear aims for the team's development and be able to achieve targets and goals set.

Main duties of the job

Main Duties and Responsibilitieso To manage the OpCourage Service, supported by the services lead.o To effectively manage, direct and supervise the work of staff within the team.o To effectively and efficiently manage resources within the team in liaison with the service manager.o To ensure the team work to national legislation, local policies and procedures and eligibility criteria.o To ensure the service works to agreed objectives and targets and meets service KPIs.o To work with and monitor performance within clinics and the impact on the Mental Health Service.o Coordination of the workforce to ensure all clinical activity is covered.o To ensure the team have appropriate training, clinical skills and supervision to meet the needs of the service.

To be responsible for decision-making and professional advice on individual cases and the allocation of resources to meet individual assessed needs.

To be a source of clinical expertise and advice for the team in the execution of their duties.

To be able to provide practical support within the clinics where needed, and to maintain skill base.

To support the development of the carer forums within the triangle of carer.

To lead on the resolution of complaints from service users and carers as per Trust policy.

To report and complete incident forms, lead on investigations and other governance processes as per Trust policy.

To write reports for coroners inquests, mental health tribunals and other legal processes as required.

  • Registered Mental Health Nurse OR Registered Mental Health Social Worker
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent demonstrable experience
  • Completion of Preparation for Mentorship qualification
  • Short courses and experience to postgraduate diploma level

Desirable

  • Management qualification

Experince

Essential

  • Substantial experience as a senior mental health practitioner within NHS
  • Participation in Service development
  • Able to demonstrate managerial experience or potential
  • Working with multi-agency safeguarding procedures

Desirable

  • Experience of working with military communities or evidence of understanding veterans communities.
