Job summary

The post holder will be a member of the multi-disciplinary CAMHS Service (formallyCAMHS/ Springleigh Child & family Therapy Services) and will be based within theYJS. This post will be focused on early intervention and ensuring that groups ofvulnerable children and young people have access to mental health advice andsupport. The post holder is responsible for providing mental health assessmentsand brief psychotherapeutic interventions and assisting in navigating local mentalhealth systems for children and young people who are involved with the YJS. Therole will also involve providing advice, training and consultation to other members ofYJS, parent (s) / carer (s) and other agencies. The post will provide a close linkbetween CAMHS and YJS.

Main duties of the job

To ensure high quality mental health assessment of children and young peoplereferred to YJS.o To identify the need for assessment through liaison with the Police, Courts,Probation, YJS, CAMHS and other appropriate agencies for young offenders whomay also be experiencing mental health issues.o To provide access to a range of quality psychotherapeutic interventions inaccordance with individual assessed need. This will include the assessment,planning, implementation and evaluation of a variety of therapeutic approacheseither alone or as a member of the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT).o To deliver highly specialised and therapeutic input to children and young peoplereferred to the team.o Work as a co-therapist where appropriate with other members of the MDT.o To be responsible for and manage a defined complex caseload and undertakecase management responsibilities within the caseload

To provide information around young offenders to the court as necessary and toattend court in order to provide support to the young person. To provide assessments to those young people who may need to be diverted outof the criminal justice system and present those cases at the Mentally VulnerableOffenders Panel. To give advice and support to the manager of the Youth Justice Service in termsof the development of services to meet the mental health needs of youngoffenders. To provide consultation and training on a wide range of children / young peoplesemotional health and well-being issues to professionals from a range of servicesincluding GPs, Early Help and Primary Care Services, Adult Mental HealthServices, Social Care and Education Services. To engage in and deliver managerial and clinical supervision, including withappropriate consent, recording and reviewing of live clinical work. Ensure collection of relevant information required by Pennine Care NHSFoundation Trust. To routinely monitor effectiveness of clinical work by the use of Routine OutcomeMeasures (ROM) and where outcomes are not improving for children, youngpeople and families to engage in clinical review via peer review meetings andsupervision. Essential

  • Professional qualifications relevant to work in child and adolescent mental health e.g. nursing, social work clinical psychology to masters level or equivalent experience.
  • Specialist post qualification training in psychological therapy with children and families to at least equivalent of a post graduate diploma level
  • Accreditation with the appropriate accrediting bodies governing the specific modality (e.g. BABCP, IY)
