Job summary

Cedars ward is a 10 bedded ward primarily for patients who have an Organic illness. We are seeking Two motivated experienced health care support workers who have an interest in working with this client group. The work is demanding and challenging but is very rewarding. As a member of the qualified team on Cedars you will be a named nurse and have responsibility for the implementation of care planning, risk assessment and conducting assessments appropriate to this client group. You will see the delivery of person centred care through from admission to discharge. The work is shift work including 24 hour rotational duty, Weekends and bank holidays. You will take charge of the ward in the absence of the Ward Manager/Ward Sister. You will be responsible for the administration of medications as well as all other duties as described in the job description

Main duties and responsibilities

The post holder will provide care and support to patients.

They will assist in the delivery of care under the guidance of a qualified nurse.

The post holder will assist in establishing care plans and in the delivery care. The expectation will be to work within the boundaries of agreed instruction, whilst being supported within Trust procedures and policies.

The post holder will support the development of health care support workers by acting as a role model and mentor, including acting as an assessor for new Health Care Support Workers completing the Care Certificate.

The post holder to be keen and interested to undertake additional training to be competent in physical health requirements such as taking vital signs, checking patient's blood sugar levels and being able to dress wounds using the ANTT approach.

The post holder to have the ability to complete case notes and document electronically.
